Edge Report post Posted October 18, 2015 How does the reamer differ, southern express?
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted October 18, 2015 Most likely a steeper shoulder. Curious to know though.
lancetkenyon Report post Posted October 19, 2015 30° shoulder, longer neck, same design as the 6x47 Lapua. Shoulder starts at same place as .243 Win. So very, very slightly less case capacity but better & more efficient shoulder/neck design for increased inherent accuracy. Should be the same load info as a .243 Win for the most part. I have a 6.5 SLR and LOVE it.
southernxpress Report post Posted November 1, 2015 Sorry I don't always log on... anyways Lance pretty much nailed it on the head. I think sometime in November is when I'll have the reamer from PTG. I already have a .243 that doesn't shoot anymore so I decided to go with the 6SLR because I can easily use .243 brass and it gives better barrel life. Load info is really close to the .243 so that isn't hard to figure out. I also am going on the cheap for dies and will just use 6mm BR dies held high and I'll just neck size. It's one of my own projects, so who knows when I'll actually get to it, but I'll have the reamer. Seems I'm always busy helping everyone else.
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted November 1, 2015 Know the feeling, thanks guys. Me and edge are working on his family gun with more history that the dead sea scrolls. I'm sure Tim would like to keep the stock barrel is why we were going the reamer and re chamber route. I did some TLC on the stock and barrel and put a new scope on her , shooting Monday will be the tell on weather the throat is shot out or not. Hard to check on a model 88. To be continued.
