idgaf Report post Posted October 15, 2015 I did one of those to my brother. Shot the head off a rattler with him asleep in the back of a truck and not waking up. Put the headless moving snake in his lap and start yelling for him to watch out. He wakes up screams like a girl and then beats me with headless moving snake. We were both covered in snake blood by the time it was done.
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted October 15, 2015 In Jr. High a friend and I killed a rattler as we walked from the cafeteria back to the school. We cut its head off and put it in a girl's locker. My ears are still ringing from the scream she let out! We would not have been caught except that we were the only two students who were literally laying on the ground holding our stomaches because we were laughing so hard...good times. You know that is a felony these days right??? Aw the good ole days.........just kidding about the felony.....but in today PC craziness heads would roll.......definitely good times though. hoghntr Report post Posted October 16, 2015 I moved this snake off the road 6feet before it rattled. It struck at me a dozen times before it rattled. Guys please do not count on a rattle. I have been struck 2x, 1 before leg guards and 1 after and neither rattled till shortly after the strike.

.270 Report post Posted October 16, 2015 this question just begs to be axed- WHY THE HEL L DID YOU MOVE IT OUTTA THE ROAD!?!?!?!? unless it was with a 12 guage? roads are hard and flat, truck tires are round and hard, makes fer a perfect snake squishin' opporunity. no wonder you been bit twiced. that's what happens when you move em outta the road. then they bite somebuddy else. squished snake, no more problem. Lark This lil dude was in middle of nowhere. My strikes came from area where when n.phx started building up and snakes were displaced so instead of 1 per quail day you would see 4-6 per day. I do kill them if in neighborhoods its eith that ir again they get displaced and over populated where they get moved to. I know some guys kill every one of them that just is not me but i also would not throw 1 in your backyard instead of mine.
hoghntr Report post Posted October 16, 2015 And i must admit i love rattlesnakes! Had 4 in aquarium in apartment at 18yrs old (6 locks on top) had a 6ft black rattler with 18 beads when i was 20 living in Christopher Creek, guy i worked with showed up one night at 2am banging on my door carring a sleeping bag all curled up so i figured he had fight with his mom.. No that was not the case! As i was still waking up this knucklehead unfolded sleeping bag and down in bottom was this massive black rattler he found while out camping with friends so naturally he dexided bringing it into my living room alive was the best idea. 😮 so of course i kept it.. They are amazing to watch feeding.

Vixen Report post Posted October 16, 2015 Your chances of getting a wet bite are going to be better trying to kill it than just leaving it alone. Especially when they back into brush. If your going to shoot them, at point blank, is introducing another safety factor. If you get bit just walking out in the sticks the chances of being struck by lightning are almost the same. 9 times out of 10 if not tampered with it is probably going to be a dry bite. The head after decapitation is extremely dangerous and the snake is very capable of injecting a fang in with full dose of venom without its body. The statistics show that the biggest percentage of people bitten are the ones messing with them without experience, even then your still chancing a bite no matter what experience. I think they are better off left alone in the wild. Different story around the house. I have came across people beating a rattlesnake to death in roads and stop and ask them if they have their hunting license. They almost all the time reply "No for what?" I would tell them for killing the snake. They would say that they didn't know you needed to have one. Guess one could be a real ***hole and turn them in, but that's not who I am. Just sayin
