stoney4325 Report post Posted October 12, 2015 I have a 28' trailer that i'm thinking of renting out for hunting seasons/get aways. I'd be willing to take it out to the camp site for the renter and drag it back home as long as its in one of the units close by. Anyone ever done this? Any comments good or bad? thx
5guyshunting Report post Posted October 12, 2015 Never rented mine , but the biggest problem I can think of is broken things. Seems like every trip with mine something breaks because they are made so light and cheap. I try to be careful, but its always something.
el diablo Report post Posted October 13, 2015 What units are close and how much are we talking?
stoney4325 Report post Posted October 13, 2015 Yeah, I usually blow tires when i take it out. That will be on me since i'll be driving. I'm in Flag so 6a, 6b, 7, 9, 5bN and 11m. Maybe 5bS, 8 and 10. I don't won't to hose anyone but i want it to be worth my time. I've looked at rentals online and they go from $80-$160 for similar trailers per day. I figure if i drop it off and pick it up, ready to go with water, propane, battery, generator and fridge/freezer, I'd do it at the lower end of that range. Of course, you break it you buy it. el diablo Report post Posted October 13, 2015 Sounds like a good idea but you'll need to consider insurance. Could get pricey. I talked to a friend of mine a few yrs back about somethin simular but were talking bout a full camp set up. Talkin firewood for x# of days, food and all the BS. Basically you show up and everything is ready. City folk type deal.

muledeerarea33? Report post Posted October 13, 2015 150 average a night would get you good business!! Like said earlier, insurance is needed! For the trails of course but more importantly liability to keep you from being sued if a mishap happened. Also if it caught on and became a big thing I would think 5-10k in an account would be nice for immediate repairs, your hauling vehicle or trailer if the need arouse (just like a rental house. Good idea, just cover your self with insurance, side cash, and maybe guide license or forest permits? Not sure if it's needed of not?
Sneaker Report post Posted October 13, 2015 I would rent it too if I had a hunt in that area.

Might as well just rent from a dealer it would be cheaper! I have owned several trailers but they just set around 50 weeks of the year. I usually cold camp where ever I hunt anyway . Taking the trailer is a camping trip for a family getaway more than a hunting trip ! I have rented many times cause it just makes basic economic sense! Big or Bust Report post Posted October 13, 2015 To be honest and no offense intended, that sounds like a ton of work for little money. Think about your life with hauling it all over for people, the constant maintenance and user issues, insurance, on call for issues, gas money for your travel etc. If it seems worth it to you, that's all that matters.
Adicted Report post Posted October 13, 2015 I would rent on hunts up there.
Ringer Report post Posted October 13, 2015 $150 a night is a great deal. You are driving it there and setting it up. You pick it up after the hunt. You put propane and water in the tanks. Much better than a rental and driving it to the campsite. I also sleep in the back of my truck but at 66 I am thinking this would fit the bill. Good luck.
