Edge Report post Posted October 6, 2015 Ha-ha, yea, seen enough to know. Actually my buddy from TX pointed it out to me. Was already gone to rope stage and 45 seconds later, gone. It's in the center of the pic, just right of the white power pole.

Edge Report post Posted October 6, 2015 I guess I'm getting old. I no longer remember my office # @ Luke AFB Weather Det., am no longer a NWS storm watcher, AMS wants too much to reinstate me as an associate.... But I'm 110% certain I watched a tornado in its dying state today in Maricopa County. Hunting related? Should be a great rut in 23 next several days.
Snapshot Report post Posted October 6, 2015 Had a wicked storm in Tucson today. Not sure if any tornado's tried to form, but nasty wind and hail, followed by multiple downpours.

Edge Report post Posted October 7, 2015 Some weather people are calling these "Gustnado's"Must be a new term. A decade as a DOD weatherhead and another decade free lancing weather data/upper wind obs and climate studies. First heard the term with the vortex that hit my buddies place about 6 weeks ago in Lichfield Park. Heard a lot of news stations calling that a funnel cloud, wrong. If the NWS is anything like the DOD, duty forecasters are punished if a tornado watch wasn't published before hand. Punishment could be what's called a bust review where you have to go back and study the data in order to understand why the weather phenomena occurred. Get the forecast wrong enough in the DOD and you could be facing court martial.
