JustinB Report post Posted October 4, 2015 i am wondering how many of you that bear hunt actually use calling as your method for hunting them? If you do... How often are you succesful. I have friends that have each killed quite a few bears. Everyone has been called in blindly. I have made this a goal.... For many years unsuccessfully.... I have shots bears in the process but not as a result of any calling. I know that the areas I hunt have bear. The sign is there. I have never had a single bear show up. Everything else but a bear. A couple years back we called a lion in while calling for bear. In the last 2 days I have called a bobcat, many fox, bull elk and his cows, white tail doe. I am calling for very long stands. What's up? For the guys that do it often and prefer to hunt this way. Any tips? I will eventually succed and bring one in this way. AZLance Report post Posted October 4, 2015 Called in many bear with a mouth call for clients and my self. Maybe 1out of 8 stands are successful. But you have to call in a rea you have seen bears or have a lot of fresh sign. Also seeing them in the pears and then calling them in closer is always a blast. .270 Report post Posted October 4, 2015 Like Lance says, the trick is to call where you know there is a bear close by. and then all the other normal stuff like wind, call location, what kinda call, etc. successfull callers usually have a certain kinda call they really like. all my success has been with a circe magnum with a jackrabbit reed. but that's about all i ever use. JustinB Report post Posted October 4, 2015 I will do a full write up later. But this morning a wish came true. After many seasons of trying calling this morning was my morning. Shortly after sunrise I called this bear into 30 yards. Was able to watch from about 150 yards out as it came in. There is something different about a bear and more specifically killing a bear. It was incredible to watch as it worked the sound, wind etc... The hard work paid off! Can't figure out how to post pic from my phone. cactusjack Report post Posted October 5, 2015 I saw a video of a lady that had really great success using an obnoxious shrill voice and a sea kayak.
