257wby Report post Posted July 3, 2007 The wife and I were camping up by the Apache Maid Ranch this weekend to get out of the heat. Drove by Mormon Lake and saw a nice herd of elk. Used my binos to count 50-60 cows and calves, and 35-40 bulls just taking a break right in the middle of nothing. A couple of the bulls looked to be real nice 6x6s, I'd guess anywhere from 290-320. I was pretty surprised to see them in the middle of the day with the moon phase we have now. Sorry I didn't have my camera with me, but it was a good lookin herd. Is it huntin season yet?
