Camera thieves SUCK!

Recommended Posts

Thanks for all of the words of wisdom! Idid have it on a trick tank that I have had on a ton of times over the past 3 years with no problems til now. I think were I went wrong was not picking it up on Thursday evening, my bad and I paid the price.

I feel the same as some of you, I see alot of cameras and ton of stands in this unit and it never crosses my mind to steel something that is not mine.

This won't stop us from putting them up, we will just do it a little different and keep to our schedule so we keep the "honest honest".

U know, I almost bought a trail camera this spring, But was worried about it dissapearing. It sounds like u guys get them taken from you regularly. I think im gonna keep my 200 rocks and buy something else... Although I really would like to try out them trail cameras someday, If and when i get one, I'll just have to put it way out of the way. Its too bad whats happening in our state with all these people anymore...

I just discovered that one of mine was taken this last weekend. I've still got three out there, but the nearest one to the road is a half/hour hike (at my pace - that probably translates to 40+ minutes for your average, lazy - a$$ed, bottom dwelling, scourge on society thief). & They're all in areas where quads are either not allowed or cannot go, so hopefully the amount of effort required to reach them will prevent them from being discovered. I think the cheapy-bait camera is a great idea w/ a second one concealed. Maybe invest in one of those fancy ones w/ the satelite uplink that e-mails the picture to you, so even if they do steal it, you can post their ugly mug on here, at.com, bowsite & everywhere else. Label 'em a rotten thief & see if someone out there doesn't recognize them.

Sounds like there is some jacknut in 9 with a lot of cameras laying around. Possibly a competing GUIDE or outfitter or possibly a disgruntled rancher. I would say a hunter but who actually gets tags year after year in unit 9. Either way I think you guys up there should set up a trap with bait and get some pics of him(them) for the authorities. My guess would be that someone who reads this forum probably knows who it is or has some idea. You don't just acquire multiple cams without some story. I suggest engraving all over your cams so it will make it harder for them to cover it up.

"The only thing worse than a liar, is thief, and all thieves ARE liars!"

A qoute from my faher from my first years until now!

Sucks about the lose, but a second with a trap sounds nice!

I put mine out sparingly, but ALWAYS tape a note on the front tab of the film that says "If this is being developed by some one other than (your name) please call the police." Only person who will ever see this is the film developer. Not sure how you would do the same with one of those digital cams.

Great Idea

I have 2 digital and 1 film camera

If I am at all worried about the area I think I will try that.

Thanks, Mike
