CouesWhitetail Report post Posted June 30, 2007 Hi All, I was out the other day and saw a really pretty black and white dragonfly (or more correctly it's called a skimmer). Here are a couple photos of it: Well, as I was watching this skimmer, it took off and starting flying around and just then a green darner (a much larger dragonfly) swooped by and snatched it in mid-air. It flew around with it trying to subdue it before it landed on a juniper branch and proceeded to devour the black and white skimmer head first. The darner let me walk right up to it and snap some picks while it ate the other insect. I could hear all the crunching noises as it ate it. I guess that's life in the jungle...one minute your a gorgeous bug doing your thing and 30 seconds later your head is missing.....it was pretty dramatic to watch.
