galiuromulepacker Report post Posted September 23, 2015 This is a throwback from last year's elk hunt. Got to break in our new wall tent. First time hunting this area, but after hunting hard for 6 days, I got it done on the last day. Not a big bull but better than a cow. Beautiful Weather Beautiful and neat country to spend time outdoors Got to use the mules to pack out some elk! Any day there's meat hanging is camp is a good day! After filling the elk tag, stayed a couple extra days for some squirrel hunting The good news is we were drawn again this year for the same hunt. My wife drew the first hunt and I drew the second. Packing up now to head to the mountains.

jgraffaz Report post Posted September 23, 2015 What do you mean by "peaks" hunt?
nateNAU Report post Posted September 23, 2015 The peaks wilderness hunt in 7e. Its a limited opportunity hunt they established after the Schultz fire to reduce elk pressure on aspen growth. Awsome hunt but can be tough. High elevation and very little road access.
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted September 23, 2015 Ouch, nice hunt but I'm pretty sure rifle squirl is not open season. FYI archery only right now. Guess if it was in October your good to make stew though. Congrats

Guess if it was in October your good to make stew though. Congrats The OP is sharing his 2014 limited opportunity Peaks hunt in 7 east ... Most those hunts takes place in Oct. and by what he said I am assuming that he was on one of the ANY Elk hunts... It does help to read versus just looking at the pictures. Nicely Done OP on a limited Opportunity Hunt !
