MATDADY Report post Posted September 23, 2015 I was finally able to get it done on a very quiet rut this year. The bulls stopped by 7am and wouldn't respond to calls the first week. The second week the bulls are still not talking well past 7am and the forest service decided to do a burn in the area causing the mornings to be very smoky and putting the elk on even a higher alert. I sat a couple different water holes that had some small bulls come in and finally decided to let it fly on this guy on Sunday night before the storms rolled in.
