mbiewer Report post Posted September 16, 2015 So, I have been trying to do some research and now that the cooler weather is here, I need to fix my pop up camper. She's a Butte that's for sure. 1979 coleman. We took it out in July and trying to set it up, the wiffletree: stripped out. this is the screw mechanism underneath the cabling hooks too. Coleman's out of business, and replacement parts are about $400. I have found knock off parts for around $180 (Plus shipping). Was hoping to find a cheaper and local alternative before I click send and spend that much. I have to old one out, and can go anywhere if I have to. I work in gilbert, and live in san tan. so somewhere out this way would be handy

Edge Report post Posted September 17, 2015 The threaded rod is stripped? You can get one at home depot 3'-4' long. Copper state carries them up to 12'
mattys281 Report post Posted September 17, 2015 If you can't find someone closer to your side of town, you can send it over here and I'll have a look. If its something that can be drill out and inserted you'll be looking at the price of a thread insert plus a 12 pack of new castles. Is there at least 1/8 material around the stripped thread? mbiewer Report post Posted September 17, 2015 I called Tim already, but never returned my call. I will try again. I've used Tim for both work and personal stuff. Was looking for members that might do it to. I will try him again though The rod isn't stripped, its the nut that travels up and down that the cables attach to. I'm assuming its all original equipment. Doing my research, the new designs are even worse. They have a plastic darin nut. I tired a few dealers, and they all have said the cutoff for spare parts is 8 years. Plenty of internet providers for parts in general, but I have only found 3 that supply the wiffletree. The thread isn't standard coarse or fine thread. Ive seen similar thread on valve gates ("square thread") but those shafts are about 1" and this is about 1/2") Thanks everyone for the input. Deer season is in November, gotta get it fixed. :-)
