Garmin Report post Posted August 27, 2015 Garmin epix is the ultimate watch for the outdoorsman and no one should be hitting the woods this fall without it. It has a plethora of built-in applications to not only help increase your chance at success, but will also help keep you safe and not lost. Here are a few of our favorite features available on epix to use while hunting. And because itâs a watch, itâs easy to glance at when you need it, and out of the way when you donât. Barometer Prepare for incoming storms by monitoring barometric pressure right from your wrist. Set storm alerts for when the barometric pressure changes a certain amount over a user-specified period of time. Barometric pressure is also an indication of fish and wildlife movement and feeding, so you can use that to your advantage. Built-in GPS & TOPO 100K Maps Make sure you donât lose your bearings with the built-in GPS with TOPO 100K maps. Easily pan and zoom on the high-resolution color touchscreen, mark and navigate to waypoints, or follow your track back to your vehicle. Offering 8 GB of built-in memory, you can load up on detailed mapping such as TOPO 24K, BirdsEye Satellite Imagery, LakeVü HD, and much more. Hunt & Fish App With the Hunt & Fish App, available from the Connect IQ Store, you can view the peak hunting and fishing times based on solunar tables. Just chalk it up as another tool in your arsenal to increase your chance of success. Ballistics App Calculate long distance shots with the Ballistics App from the Connect IQ store. With customizable data fields such as distance to target, wind speed and direction, shot angle, scope height from bore, click value, zero range, and the muzzle velocity, drag function, and ballistic coefficient of the cartridge you are using. After you are done setting all of your variables, hit start and it will calculate exactly how many clicks you need to adjust your scope, along with the drop and drift of the bullet in inches. If that isnât enough, it will even tell you how long it will take the bullet to reach your target. Head to the Connect IQ Store to download the Ballistics app. VIRB Remote Capture precious memories of your hunt with the Garmin VIRB XE action camera. Use epix as a remote to take photos with your VIRB and to start and stop recording on up to six cameras, from up to 10 meters away. This is a great feature, especially if you are hunting from a treestand and have cameras set up above and below you.
