making a difference

Recommended Posts

Everyone is quite aware of our dry spell we've had these last several years and it definately has had an enormous impact on everything from our national forest to the water in our homes. This person would be the last one to pat himself on the back or even mention he has gone to the next level of giving his time and hard earned money towards helping in a way he thinks is his enjoyment instead of contributing to our water shortage. I would like to take the time to let each of you, even though I'll catch heck from him for writing this, that Mike Leas, as most of you know him as Gamehauler, has taken on the task of purchasing a water trailer and has been supplying water to much needed watering catchments throughout the rim country. Mike along with friend Dick Henry, from Payson also, has taken the next step towards our crises we're in and I personally would like to thank both of them and wanted a few of you to know what goes on behind the scenes. So with this said I say THANK YOU Mike and to those others who go without recognition helping in their own ways as well. Ask Mike to share some of his watering pictures with us.

Wow, now that's beyond cool Mike! If you ever need someone to volunteer a Sat. or Sunday to assist with the work, I'd be more than glad to ride along and help out in any way I can. We need more people like you in the world these days, and less worrying about drawing their opportunity tag.

Thanks for all you do Mike. If you don't mind I would like to use the picture you sent me in one of our newsletters in the future.

As a sidenote to all that would like to haul water the AES is having some water trailers built and will have them stationed at some of the AZGFD region offices for the Sportsmen volunteers to use. All you have to do is coordinate with the WMs in the region about where the water is needed, or make suggestions to them, and the public can use the trailers to haul water. They will be heavy duty single axle trailers with a 500 gallon tank and pump. We will be picking them up soon and registering them.

Thanks to all (except Tom) for your support.

We are not doing this for glory or to increase the chance of harvest.

The conditions here are really bad and the animals will be suffering if we don't get some rain soon.

The catchments we are hauling water to are not the only water in the area but if they have to move to other areas it will stress the land as well as the water source.

This has been a joint effort with alot of help from others.

I bought the trailer at a really good price, which made all possable.

Dick Henry had the pump,

Someone donated 300' of fire hose and

the Gila County Sanitation District is donating the water.

The 250 gal tank in the back of my truck was also donated

We use this tank for the catchments that are to rough to tow the trailer into.

Since Tom let the cat out of the bag I will show some pictures of one of the greatest feelings I have ever had.

Mike

First Trip

This is a 1000 gal tank that only had about 2" in it
