jeffd Report post Posted September 13, 2015 My son, Roy took his first bobcat tonight. We called in a coyote, fox, and the bobcat on our first stand tonight. The bobcat presented the best shot at 30 yards. First time we've called in 3 species in one stand.
mattys281 Report post Posted September 13, 2015 That's pretty incredible! I'm not much of a predator caller, seems like every time I try all I doe is call in crows and the occasional deer. Sounds like some good work to me if you fooled all three. Congrats to him!
WampusCat Report post Posted September 13, 2015 Very cool. Stands like those make good memories! What are your sons plans for the hide? Sell, Mount, Rug? Tough decisions for a first cat.

jeffd Report post Posted September 17, 2015 What caliber shoot it with and how much damage I used a .223 shooting 55 grain ballistic tip bullets. I shot the bobcat at 30-35 yards and it created an entry wound about 2 inches wide that blood stained allt of the fur around it, although the damage really wasnt too bad. No exit wound. jeffd Report post Posted September 17, 2015 Here are a couple more pictures. The first is it over my shoulder, using my belt as a strap; my new favorite way to carry small-medium animals like javelina and bobcat. The second picture is me looking unhappy, as in most pictures.
