rossislider Report post Posted September 8, 2015 I am currently a Verizon subscriber, but am unhappy and considering a change. I was hoping some of you that reside or spend a lot of time in the White Mountains could tell me a little about your AT&T coverage. Most of my time up there is either spent in the area around Clay Springs or Greer. Thanks for any input
billrquimby Report post Posted September 8, 2015 AT&T does not serve Greer. We have the choice of Frontier or Frontier for our land lines here. My cell phone is served by Verizon. There has been talk about the company erecting towers at the fire station and in the village but, as of now, we drive to the 260/373 junction to receive or send cell calls. WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted September 8, 2015 AT&T has very poor coverage in the Clay Springs area, even worse than Verizon if you can imagine that, the only other option is Cell One up here. I'm not sure how they do in this area.
GreyGhost85 Report post Posted September 8, 2015 Verizon would be your best bet. Cell One might work better in some areas, but it is not very practical to have if you are not a resident of the areas they provide in

Bill Quimby I can usually get a decent call signal with Verizon on the road to River Reservoir, between Tunnel and Bunch. Was hoping AT&T would have service there as well. I'm not really concerned with great data service. Just like to call and check in at home once a day. Same thing with the Clay Springs area. We have family with a cabin 1/4 mile south of the 260 just off of Rogers Lane. Don't really need data, just the ability to check in with home on occasion. Mine is a cheap flip-top that's at least ten years old. I'll have to try it near the lakes. It's closer than driving all the way to the junction. Thanks for the tip. muledeerarea33? Report post Posted September 9, 2015 I get 3G in show low and "E" in some places out of town. Very bad coverage unless your in the city. Verizon will run maps on the phone with some call service. AT&T won't. Not worth it.
Richie Report post Posted September 9, 2015 My work phone is Verizon wireless and I also keep my iPhone with AT&T for my unlimited data. I'm always checking which one has better reception when I'm out and about. I don't travel to the white mountains much but Generally speaking....my Verizon phone Is always the winner. ctafoya Report post Posted September 9, 2015 LOL AT&T. Stay away. We had them at a previous employer and we always got in trouble for not answering because the POS phone never rang. I only stay with Verizon because of the coverage I get when out in the sticks.
bonecollector777 Report post Posted September 11, 2015 I know they have a temp at&t tower in Heber right now at the fire station. Guess they are seeing how many people passing through the area have at&t and if they have enough they will put up a real tower. Not sure how far out that would help with signal where you are though. Bill Quimby I am impressed that you have had your phone for ten years. I am on my third phone this year(warranty replacements). AT&T has the second best coverage for the area, they have an agreement with cell one to use their towers. But it is a distant second to verizon.
