Killing bucks of this caliber takes a ton of time, effort and money. Most of us can only muster one of those 3. Heck, myself I can't seem to get any of them. When all three can come together thats when good things happen.

Congrats to all involved its an awesome buck.

how does it work? cuernos found it, then called A3 because they have a contract with the auction hunter so he can come over and shoot it? just asking srs question if anyone knows

how bad would it suck if you were a local with a tag and watch it all summer then it gets smacked before the season even starts by a Thurston Howell and his crew

maybe they need an asterisk next to the animal in the books. *shot with year long auction tag.

or maybe theyll just start listing the name of the outfitter instead of the hunters in the books lol

I wasn't referring to the people that were unimpressed w "bought trophies" as low class. It was the photoshopped picture that replaced A3 with USO on his hat that I thought was pretty low budget. I'm a DIY guy. If I won the raffle tag, (can't afford the auction tags like the rest of us) you can bet your bottom dollar it would still be DIY and I'd get a good buck on the ground.

As far as the chest pounding, I have no knowledge of that. I racked up those pics as good advertisement in my book.

I wouldn't sell info on big deer PERIOD, but I'm not trying to make a living at hunting.

Sounds about right. I don't see any other reason why A3 and Cuernos would be teaming up to get this buck. A Huge congrats to whoever found this an incredible buck you did a good job finding a buck such as this and congrats to the guys who helped get him down. Also thanks to the shooter for spending his cash to help benefit our coues. Considering how much $$$ these tags usually go for when it comes to elk and muley I'd say the shooter got a pretty good deal. For the guys in the know is there any kind of story to this buck? Congrats again to everyone involved.

I was told that a normal guy has kinda been watching this buck the past couple years he has trail cam pics and sheds of the deer he went into the area and glasses him up then called cuernos who then called a3 cause they had they auction tag guy they all met up within a couple Hours re glasses the deer and killed him and the guy that had been watching the deer last couple years got a finders fee. Now in my option it is a bad butt deer no doubt but was it fair chase no way the hunter had never stepped foot in the area till he pulled the trigger I don't think these AUCTION tags should be given out that is my 2 cents we all have to wait for our hunt dates to come befor we get the chance what if there was other guys watching that buck they just got screwed man just as if someone poached a deer u were watching say what u want but the auction tags are a bunch of bs

If you find a giant buck and or bull and don't want the auction tag holder to kill it then don't pimp it out. pretty easy. I'm sure he got a pretty good paycheck and decided it was worth it.

I like that attitude, and I hope you don't think I was taking a shot at you, or anyone specifically.

My point of view is just that there's a difference between paying to kill a buck and hunting it. That's MY opinion only. It's certainly not law/ethics/whatever and I have no ill will against anyone hunting/killing anyway they want or for disagreeing with me. My personal view is that I'd rather eat every tag I ever hold than pay someone to hunt for me. Succeed or fail, it's all on me. That's how I like it, so that's how I do it.

Because of that attitude I've eaten the only two elk tags I ever got and have waited five years so far (and counting) to get another. Some people don't have the stomach for that, so they should probably consider buying a trophy.

Here's my opinion: A story goes a LONG ways. Whether A3 found the buck or some punk teenager from Round Valley did while off-roading, let's hear the story!

These animals are incredible and deserve so much more attention than a price tag or a watermark. Don't get me wrong, I get why watermarks are used. But we also need to understand the unintended consequences of slapping a name or logo on a pic. It's a double-edged sword.

We talk about the time and effort it takes to make it happen. And I believe that. But these bucks are rarely as historical as their story, IMO.

If A3 was simply an in-between man or "booking agent" on any animal of this caliber, I don't really care. I really don't! They've found a niche and it's working. But if it did begin with some kid who stumbled upon a shed, or got a TC pic of the buck a few years ago...now THAT would go a long ways for me.

I'm not implying anything, either. I don't know the story nor have I heard anything. But that's what I'd LOVE to hear. Giving 100% credit where it's due instead of assumed is highly respectable in my book.

Actually I hear the story on quite a few of these, ( I didn't on this buck though) just remember only a very small % of hunters are on Coueswhitetail.com, or post info on CW.com

I am just guessing, but I would guess the hunter shares his story in his home state or home forum, or home whatever it may be. Surprising to many on here would be the concept that these hunters, or shooters or whatever you want to call them don't do it for the fame or Glory. I get photos from Shane (killed the other big Coues) fairly regularly asking me not to share them because he doesn't go on hunts to make himself look like a great white hunter. He does it because he loves to hunt and has the means to hunt in many places. He does it with his brothers, family and close friends. I was extremely glad to see him post the pictures and story on this website. Az was and probably to some extent is still his home. Many of the other auction hunters are from the midwest or East or somewhere far from Az and they don't feel the need to share them with us. Again just speculation, on my part.

I too would like to hear the story on all of these giant animals killed, I am just guessing on why we don't.
