azcouesandelk Report post Posted June 23, 2007 Well I havent been able to post as much lately but logged on today and realized that this will be my 1500th post . I am now working at Sportmans Warehouse off of the U.S. 60 and Greenfield in the archery department (so swing by and say hi). I got rid of my 4 arrow quiver and stepped up to the 6 arrow one so I will have plenty of arrows for all of my misses .I have been shooting around 6 days a week and have added some new stuff to my bow. I took my whisker bisquit off and put on a trophy taker shakey hunter and watched my arrow sail 6 fps faster and saw my groups shrink by at least a 1/3 at close ranges and more than half at longer ranges. Was going to go up to the seen shoot today but had some problems with my bow so decided I would stay in the heat and get them fixed. My winnners choice string came in yesterday so I put that on and threw away my old peep with the tube and put a 2 strand 3/16 inch peep on. After putting on my new string my bow went from 70 pounds up to 75 and my speed went from 274 to 282.5 with 400 grain arrows so I am now at the 71 K.E. mark and am very happy with that. Just a little rant but wanted to give everybody an update so you know I am preparing for my archery bull tag (right bobbyo). Going to go scouting this next week not sure what days yet my schedule might be changed but possibly thursday and friday so if you want to tag along just shoot me a PM. Here are some pictures of my bow with the add ons (mostly the string and quiver) Just to show the string and peep a little bit How my pins are set (and I won't shoot over 50 for elk but have the other pins to shoot for fun and help me hold steadier at closer ranges) Here is one for you guys who dont draw tags to stare at and dream about for a while
AZP&Y Report post Posted June 23, 2007 Younghunter, Nice set up! I also picked up my bow from AHQ today and they put on a winner's choice string. I hear they are the best. I also have the Trophy taker and couldn't be happier with that arrow rest. Do you guys at SW sell the Copper John sites? I wanted to take a look @ the new ones. Good Luck scouting and permit #130 out of 150 = the elk gods are smiling on you CONGRATS on post 1500... AZP&Y

WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted June 23, 2007 Looks good. I've had 0 rotation from my peep with WC strings, you should be happy. Hunt Coues during the early hunt and you'll be ready for that easy elk hunt. Congrats on preparing yourself for your hunt BTW the Spot Hogg IMO is the way to go. TREESTANDMAN Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Younghunter, Looks like a great set-up. You are doing your homework and will have a great hunt for sure!! That is a beautiful tag, brought back memories of when I found out I drew a NM unit 17 archery bull tag last year. From the time I found out I drew the tag to the end of my hunt was a great experience. I ended up buying about 20 different elk videos, lost about 20 lbs getting in shape for the hunt and man was the actually hunt a blast!!! I'm really jealous! bobbyo Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Younghunter, Wow what a nice tag! I have a question, how can a string increase the poundage on a bow by five pounds? Again what a nice tag. I am glad you showed everyone. Bob P.s. Is that neon orange
azcouesandelk Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Younghunter, Wow what a nice tag! I have a question, how can a string increase the poundage on a bow by five pounds? Again what a nice tag. I am glad you showed everyone. Bob P.s. Is that neon orange Bobbyo my old string was so loose and I had the limbs cranked up to 70 pounds so once I put on my new strings which were the length that came on the bow origional which were now 3/4 of an inch less than what my strings were now it made the draw that much heavier without adjusting the limbs themselves. Also it is a neon orange but I wanted to go with hunting colors so I went with the orange and brown with brown serving and I think it looks pretty sweet. Dallas is was great meeting you and maybe this time I will be able to make it up a little earlier and shoot a little bit with you guys. It all depends on my schedule this week. I was scheduled off for Thursday and Friday but that will probably change and I will have different day's off. I was planning on going scouting but I think I will have the days moved up so I can learn a thing or 2 from you out on the range Man it seems that this one tag belongs to alot of you guys
tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 24, 2007 Younghunter, congr. on your 7w bull tag. Sounds like you got yourself in order for this one. Get the scouting in whenever possible. I know how hard that can be when schedules get changed. Good luck on your hunt and I look forward to meeting you in the SW.
BowNut Report post Posted June 24, 2007 P.S. That 7W tag was mine how did you get your name on it. Great Photo Shop LMAO!!!!!! I second that, that was my #2 unit ( I like the archery side in ya. ): 7W was my first choice and if I remember correctly younghunter had it secound choice thats why I say it was my tag. :lol Bobbyo, The poundage went up with the new strings because his old buss cable must have stretched. When you replace the string and cables (especially with Winners Choice) sometimes it will go up because they are a tad short. You can get it to drop back down by just taking a couple twists out of the buss cable.

If he only has 70 lb limbs might he run into trouble down the road. just worried he might hurt himself and not be able to use that tag. Bob

Bob Bob, that's awful nice of you to be so considerate of Younghunter's health but why do I get this funny feeling it's all about the tag. Sorry but he can't transfer it if he gets hurt. I bet he will at least let you get your picture taken with it. TJ
