Sick of hearing about you missing

Recommended Posts

Agree with pretty much everything your saying .270 except for the ethical=legal logic. Here's another example as to why I don't agree that legal=ethical. Back in my younger days I knew of a group of guys that would kill at-least 1-2 big ol muley bucks every winter with their bows. The way they would do this is they would find the biggest ruttin buck they could find and get as close as they could until the buck would bust them. As soon as the buck busted them all 4-5 of them would start lobbing as many arrows at him as they possibly could hoping that at least one arrow would connect and slow the buck down. One year they said they had 3 arrows in a huge 7x8 but never got him. While these guys were in their legal right to hunt in this manner I would hardly call it ethical. Ethical=legal is a good guideline to follow but this shouldn't be the only factor in determining ones ethics.

I bet you shot a quail and didn't find it on the hunt that your avatar is from..

When I grow up, I hope to be as perfect as you.

+1 I've never wounded a dove in my life.

Or missed a dove, because he's against that too.

No! when he misses it is intentional :o

I guess I didn't choose my words well enough. I was referring to the guys that make a habit of missing game and shrug it off (which is clearly some of the people in this thread). I'll go sit in the corner and wait till duck and quail seasons open. Sorry to have offended the CWT coffee club.

Do baseball players pout when they strike out?

Missing sucks. Wounding is worse. I still replay the cow elk I wounded and never found in college! 30-06 @ something STUPID like 30 yards.

I to a point understand what the OP was trying to make. Maybe the words were a little harsh and whinny. I feel most if not all hunters on this site are ETHICAL as well as accomplished hunters. I had a guy ask for help one time to get an elk he shot during bow season. Didn't know him, he just came to my camp and asked. During the recovery I asked if he had seen any other bulls and he began to piss me off so bad I almost left him there with his nice 6x6 but I knew it would have gone to waste as he had no way of getting it out by himself. He proceeded to tell me he hit a 6x7 the day before and was tracking it cuz he didn't make a good shot. While doing this he came on another 6x6 and missed him. I couldn't believe what I was hearing from this scum bag and called him on it. Why are you shooting at other animals with one wounded? He said he really didn't think it was that good of a hit and it would be fine. Unethical? Dam straight it was!!!! Legal? Yes but not right to do IMO. So I do understand the OP but maybe not right for him to take pot shots at members here. JMO

what i'm sayin' is to quit even using the term ethics when refering to hunting. do you think peta thinks hunting is "ethical". hel l no. we have a set of laws that should determine how you go about your business in the woods. the laws have been intentionally written to have room in them so that folks can still have some area to do things their way. forget your dam "ethics". it's just your opinion. you're welcome to it, but don't expect others to have the same opinion and don't think your opinion is more important. if we let ethics start governing hunting, then hunting is over. if you think i agree with everything folks do in the woods, think again. there is a buncha stuff i really disagree with, but will not complain about because it is legal and i don't want to prescribe to anything that keeps folks from hunting. to me it's "unethical" to not hunt. the azgfd has tried to instill some "ethics" in the last few years. all they've ended up with is a buncha real vague crap that makes it easier for them the hassle folks that are just trying to hunt. we need clear, precise, laws that are still broad enough for folks to hunt how they want to and that have enough leeway so that if you move one inch in the wrong direction, you're not breaking the law. not vague "ethics" that each and every person has a different view of. in my opinion, if it's legal, it's ethical. Lark.

I'd like to shoot the OPs high horse he rode in on. Better choose my shot wisely so I don't miss or wound it... That just wouldn't be ethical now would it...

Most of the hunters on CW.com that have actually killed more than 1 buck( or anything at all) have a huge issue with what you said because most of us dread remembering the times we have missed, or wounded anything and often times play those memories in our consciousness and it hurts, we wish we could take them back or make better decisions, but as was stated before if you have never missed or wounded a critter, you have probably never been out of your truck.

I personally only remember one bull I hit in the shoulder many years ago that got away, but I've missed a HE!! of a lot of critters in my life. Those misses have made me the hunter, as lousy as I may be, I am today.

Are you saying buck fever is unethical? Haha. If you don't get at least some "buck fever" then you are a robot and should stop hunting.
