Backpack coues hunting

Recommended Posts

I am new here and am planning my first coues backpack/spike hunt me and a couple buddies have been hicking in and out out our hunting spot for the last 4 years but want to get deeper maybe 10-15 miles in my question is we're going hicking in this weekend to scout and hike in some water what is the best way to leave water back there for it to be good to drink on our oct deer hunt?

That would be awesome haha I dont mind hicking it in we're doing 2 scouting trips each time hauling water but how can I store it back there and it still be good to drink in a month and a half? Maybe put it in a duffel bag?

I bought a collapsible 5 gallon tank on ebay with a on/off nozzle. Going to hike back in and filter water in the washes then store it under a nice shady tree. Preferably one with a lot of under brush so its hidden and doesn't get direct sunlight

Hicking sucks.

Hike in, keep the jugs unopened, cache out of the sun lite.

Are there baars where you're hicking? Sorry couldn't resist. Call me if I can help.

Not sure how the bears know there's food in canned chow but they do, must be trial and error. But haven't had them mess with water cans yet.

Bury your water jugs in a shady, sandy area. This will keep them cooler and out of sight of illegals. It usually helps keep the bears from ripping them open too.

My buddies and I have back packed in a couple times! Just like any where else if you can get away from the crowd chances of seeing a higher number of bucks shoots straight up imo.
