Sonof12 Report post Posted August 30, 2015 Gently used 1988 Johnson 9.9 hp 2 stroke outboard. This came as a kicker motor on a bigger boat I bought and I just won't use it. It has been stored in my garage. It is a short shaft (15"). It starts up perfectly and runs like a top. In fact, I took it up with a friends boat to the mountains this summer and it ran great with no problems. Comes with a 5 gallon tank - gas always treated with stabil.$800 obo $700.00 obo $650.00 OBO $600 firm Message or text Jon 602-284-3190

Sonof12 Report post Posted August 31, 2015 Bump - looking to unload this motor soon. Make a reasonable offer. Thanks!
Havasuhunter Report post Posted August 31, 2015 You'll want to figure out if it's a short or long shaft. Short shafts are what most small boats need, long shafts are for kicker motors on bigger boats, generally speaking. I think you measure from the base of the powerhead to the center of the hub? I had that exact motor in short shaft on an old Gregor. Used to go fish saltwater all the time with it, was my first ever boat/motor. Very well made motor, always ran great. Good luck on the sale. Depending on compression and overall wear, you seem priced OK.
Edge Report post Posted September 1, 2015 Looks like a short shaft I had the same motor in a long shaft. Great motors.
Sonof12 Report post Posted September 1, 2015 Thanks guys - manual online said standard length which is 15" - I guess that also means that it's a short shaft. Price drop to $750 obo

Havasuhunter Report post Posted September 2, 2015 I'm tempted to buy it now and I don't even have a little aluminum boat to put it on. Great little motor there for duck hunting and fishing small lakes and the lower River.
