CouesPursuit Report post Posted August 24, 2015 I'm seeking a replacement barrel for my 12 gauge Remington 870. Must be 26" or longer, vented rib. May be a long shot but you never know with the CWT community, I'm thinking someone could have gone tactical and the stock barrel is laying around? If anyone has one that they would be willing to part with for a reasonable price, I'd appreciate a pm or post here. If you have an alternative recommendation, please share that as well! I'm looking for any options other than buying a new barrel for > $150 for a 300 dollar and 13 year old firearm. Thank you very much.
brent Report post Posted August 24, 2015 Do you need the matt black finish or blued? If blued, I might have a 28" mod barrel. I will look into it.
lancetkenyon Report post Posted August 24, 2015 Rem 870? Check. 26"? Check. Vented Rib barrel? Double Check. How about $50? No "checks" please.
CouesPursuit Report post Posted August 24, 2015 Brent, I have no real preference, especially if the price is right, and from what I understand the blued is better at keeping rust away and it's going on a duck gun. Also 28" is preferred, just didn't want to get picky right off the bat. When you say "mod barrel" do you mean you just have a modified choke threaded in now or is it mod permanent? Thanks. Lance, that's nuts. Story? Someone accidentally push a 20 in first or have a wet shell fail to clear?
lancetkenyon Report post Posted August 25, 2015 Not mine, but I heard it was wrong powder, pistol powder used accidently. I can't believe this type of thing never happened to my brother and I. He used to load all kinds of weird shells. Double powder, nails, chain, marbles, etc.
QhunterAZ Report post Posted August 25, 2015 Are you sure you want a 26" barrel? it only gives you like 4" of extra range over a nice 22"
