GreyGhost85 Report post Posted August 20, 2015 i build cell phone towers for a living and i can tell you that Nutrioso is one of the worst black holes in the state for cell coverage. there is not one provider in that area. verizon or Cell One is your best bet in that area, but Cell One is a VERY small company that provides marginal at best coverage to some remote corners of the state (white mountains, Navajo Res). Alpine has great reception and I happen to know the guy that built the tower there . there are not many options at all to get coverage there and i REALLY doubt that any kind of signal amplifier will help in that particular area. amplifiers work pretty well when there is some signal or intermittent signal in an area, but there is basically zero trace of any kind of signal there. They help boost and "stabilize" the signal. the tower in Nutrioso is at the fire station and does not have any cell equipment on it. i can assure you of that. i have heard rumor that they are going to build a site there, but who knows. cell sites are all connected either by fiber or a hard line, or by microwaves. they all "talk" to each other. kazpilot25 Report post Posted August 20, 2015 I have the Wilson booster I bought to use with my AT&T phone. When there is a slight bit of service, it works great to boost it to a usable signal. But with AT&T there is hardly ever a hint of a signal when you pull more than a mile into the woods. Can't wait for my contract to end so I can switch over to Verizon. Pine Donkey Report post Posted September 15, 2015 Ok you guys that work in the cell/tower industry, I need some education. I thought any tower nowadays must be a cell tower. I now understand this is not a cell tower, that leaves me with two questions. First, what is this tower for? And second, could Verizon mount their equipment on it someday? rancilio Report post Posted September 15, 2015 I have been using the Wilson Dual Band Cellular / PCS signal booster for a few years both in the house and in a vehicle. It works quite well gettin a signal in areas with poor reception. This model is probably a 2009 so I assume that newer models are a bit better and easier to use. I have to use a cradle that is a pain.
