rossislider Report post Posted August 20, 2015 Seems like quality control of the outdoorsmans stud is lacking at best since some have good results and some it leaves the binos loose. They have always given me great customer service. I'd suggest calling them or swinging by their shop to see if they can help you out.
kwp Report post Posted August 20, 2015 The outdoorsmans is better than the swaro in so many ways. It is intended to swivel to allow user adjustment but it should not be a loose swivel. If it is then you must not be getting the knob tight. The security of knowing my binos won't fall off is also very important. I too often carry my binos attached to the tripod and would never do this with a swaro adapter.
PhxDT Report post Posted August 20, 2015 What does the outdoorsman setup cost? I am still pissed to have spent $200 on an adapter to only have it fall apart.
rossislider Report post Posted August 20, 2015 The entire basic setup, stud and adapter is in the neighborhood of $85. Unlike my Vortex Razors, the Swaros require that they be installed at the shop by them as the stud won't simply screw on. You should probably plan on a little extra for that service. You won't regret it.

You won't regret it.. That's only if you're putting the stud on EL's. The slc's are threaded and the outdoorsman adapter will thread right in. I asked outdoorsman why the Binos swivel slightly when the screw is tight and they said it was to keep it from backing out the stud screwed into the Binos. Makes sense to me. Mine will move slightly when the screw is tight, but it doesn't bother me a bit.
CouesFanatic Report post Posted August 20, 2015 Not sure I'll have to check it out but if it does it's something I've never noticed while glassing. If you don't have the panning base on the pistol grip it's worthless. Once you get it though it's a whole new ballgame. I used that Swarovski adapter in the past until I lost the top piece and the told me I was SOL. The binos will move back and forth in the adapter (side to side), that doesn't bother the crap out of you? I put a piece of camo sticky felt in the middle and it snugged the binos up perfectly. I'll have to look into the pan stud. Iv'e used both extensively. The Swaro adapter is much more steady and allows less movement of the binoculars. Yes, you probably should take the binos out to move around. I'll take the less movement over that ability any day. I find lots of animals from an ear flicker or a step. Another time I hand tightened the outdoorsman adapter and when I tried to take it off it was too tight. I didn't have a wrench with me and couldn't take them off till I got back to the truck. PhxDT, You should head down to outdoorsmans and try it. You will see what i'm talking about. It is a good adapter, it just has a few quirks that I don't like too much. A lot of guys like it though.
outdoor rush Report post Posted August 20, 2015 Hey everyone Thank You for your kind words and support on our products. Here at the Outdoorsmans we pride ourselves in making the best gear for the Western Hunter. Listening to our customers is a valuable tool that we use to create the best glassing gear on the market. In regards to the loose/moving binos when attached to our adapter and stud: The binos will still have a little movement on an axis from the attachment point, before you tighten the knurled knob on top of the adapter. After you tighten the knurled knob the binos will need a little force to move them on this axis. If the binos move freely or feel loose when attached and the knurled knob on top is tightened, there is an underlying issue that we will have to diagnose and fix. If you are experiencing any problems with any of our products feel free to call us at 1-800-291-8065 or locally at 602-944-7121. Better yet if you are in the neighborhood bring the product into the shop and we can go over the issues together. Jake
