Gun mistakes

Recommended Posts

Heard all about the guns you would love to have back.

Let's hear about the crappy ones. You know the jamming autoloaders you'd like to wrap around a tree trunk or pistol you were tempted to throw like an iron baseball and why. Might help some of us from making the same mistake.

Walther P22

Would have made a better hammer. Always jammed. Gf sent it to Glockmeister for rebuild, still jammed regardless of ammo.

Jennings .22 operated fine but barrel came apart while cleaning. Pos

CVA and traditions muzzleloaders. Had one of each and both would only go off when they were in a good mood.

Browning gold shotgun. Ran about 1 out of 4 times jammed the rest.

Mossberg pump shotgun. Forearm split in half while shooting

I believe it was a Remington Mohawk .243, short stock, shorter that standard barrel.

I bought for my wife thinking it would be perfect for a woman shooter.

Sorry thing was the loudest, hardest kicking gun I ever owned. She shot three rounds through it and threw it aside and told me to forget it.

My oldest son took the action and build me a .17 Remington out of it.........good deal for me...not so good for her.

I bought a Remington .22LR, model 597, jamming POS from the day I got it even with trying different ammo. I haven't shot it in almost a decade, just waiting for my 13yo cousin to get a bit older before I gift it to him for a birthday.

NEF Single shot .20 gauge!

My dad bought me one to go dove hunting when I was around 10. I couldn't hit notin'! He said "let me shoot it" and realized those little guns kick like a mule and told me to put it in the truck we would share a gun. No one has ever shot it since.

I have been really luck so far with what I have purchased.

Like that cuz much? Make sure he.learns the safe way to clear it.

I had a similar Rem .22 as a kid. Think they called them nylons. First one was tube mag and was flawless, but we ran over it with the '48 Willys. Returned it and got the model with the banana mag. Had to find the sweet spot for it to feed.

Mossberg Maverick O/U-- Won it at a DU banquet, 12ga, shot skeet with it and bottom barrel stop firing. Barrel weld had broken and bottom barrel was 1/4" out. Sent to Mossberg, requesting replacement gun or credit because receiver might have been damaged. Took 9 weeks to get a new set of barrels, never replaced anything else even the foregrip (I marked the pieces before mailing). Traded in towards Beretta Silver Pigeon.

Never will ever own a Mossberg or related gun after.

Part of the reason I posted that comment.. I'd like to hear anyone's opinion on my intentions! So, thank you!

I have been taking him dove and duck hunting several times over the last few years and make him recite TAB+1 every time I pick him up and every time I drop him off, he does all of his own unloading and reloading, etc. But, he definitely still needs to mature a bit. Not living under the same roof, I'm thinking he'll get it for his 15th birthday and I'll give the mags and ammo to my Aunt to keep in her secured location of choice.

Had a close friend who got jammed up with the same thing, during hands down the best duck hunting experience of my life. In layout blinds, we had thousands of puddlers pouring in - landed in our decoys, landing in our decoys, from 10 - 1000 feet up, circling everywhere, with birds still coming in as far as we could see. I was in absolute awe, we watched for 15 minutes before finally a group of geese came out of nowhere. As I called for shot and for him to get his first ever goose, his mossberg failed catastrophically and was in the trash that night. He was devastated after cussing, crying, and laughing all in panic. We did not get the geese through the mishap but quality ducks were plentiful. As you can see, the dog is still watching birds pour in and out of the lake and I couldn't get his attention away.

2 drake sprig and 1 greenhead are not pictured as they were stowed away for mounting.

Never will ever own a Mossberg or related gun after.

Based on the story above, me neither!!

kel tec 380

I knew it wouldn't take long to hear Keltec

I traded off the gf's Keltec

32 before it blew up in her face. She never forgave me and bought a Keltec 9. I shot it yesterday for the first time. Pos.

U begin the trigger pull on Tuesday and you might squeeze a shot off by Thursday. And if you don't pull the trigger crisply, misfire.

They fixed that problem. Get a new metal magazine and you won't have that issue anymore.

I just searched this and it seems to be a common issue and fix. Thank you very much, definitely worth a shot.

A Remington 7400 or 7600 the pump action it would pattern under 18" and kicked like a f buckin mule. Pros is we paid $375 for it with a Leopold scope traded it in for $300 on my 25-06 that has been the best $75 scope I have ever bought
