All of the loads I'm running are at or below std 260 max loads I don't believe I am over pressure at all. I guess I don't get what you are trying to say. I am running 150 fps faster than most standard .260's are capable of. The point I am trying to make is that the Ackley case is more efficient producing higher velocities due to a better powder column and burn in the case rather than the throat of the barrel. Low recoil, brass that last forever and so far probably one of the most accurate guns I own. The OP's bolt face wont work but that is an easy fix with a new PTG bolt from Midway. I have one waiting for me at the smith and I can hardly wait. Check the ballistic data at the bottom of this site. It was computed using the Model 600 carbine barrel. My Model 700's longer barrel does much better. Anyone using a lighter taper and having good results? I was looking at Hart & Brux around a #3 which is something along the lines of a medium heavy barrel. 3# on the Brux chart. .270 Report post Posted August 20, 2015 if it's a hunting rifle that you plan on packing long distance, why not go to a skinnier barrel? they still shoot a one shot group real well? i don't understand the heavy barrel deal for hunting rifles. or another way to go is carbon fiber. Christensen or proof make some neat stuff and they are extremely light and accurate. kinda spendy, but any really good barrel is. anyway, to each his own, but i don't understand the big fat barrel on a hunting rifle. target rifles, sure.
