bobbyo Report post Posted June 20, 2007 Just sent out my tag applications to the bank of Arizona Game and Fish. It totaled well over $1000 dollars. Since I have a relatively small family I was wondering what kind of capital out lay some of you guys and gals had to send off? Bob
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted June 20, 2007 It was over 1K for me too but I am only one person, not a small family! If I hadn't applied for buffalo, it would have only been a few hundred. I am, of course, expecting to get most of that money back. Amanda
GameHauler Report post Posted June 20, 2007 One of the benefits of the split draw this year is planning for the late hunts. Since my daughter drew a Sep. Bull tag and I have a Dec bull tag, I opted to just pay for our sheep bonus points. My oldest Daughter is 19 now so she has to pay for her own tags. So my outlay for this draw was only $99.50 I think this was a good choice since we will also have 2 Dec Coues tags Mike
Outdoor Writer Report post Posted June 20, 2007 I'm applying for only deer and sheep. Buying a bonus point for buff because I can't afford the $1000+ for a bull tag right now. Maybe next year, it'll go back online with only the app fee again. The desert sheep and buff are my two remaing critters for the original AZ 10. I have a Gould's from Mexico, so I'll likely never hunt them here. That's likely the same for RM bighorn, though I might at least try --IF I ever draw a desert. -TONY
GameHauler Report post Posted June 20, 2007 Well Tony your chances are a lot better this year for that Desert than they have been in the past. I am sure more people did what I did Because of Elk tags, Plus the people who just don"t have the money to put in for Sheep. Good Luck Mike
Ron G. Report post Posted June 20, 2007 It was probably the wrong year to do it, but I decided last minute to buy a sheep bonus tag. My dad already has an elk tag and I'll be helping him out. I had the money already set aside, but decided since the last time my dad had a rifle bull tag* he also got drawn for desert bighorn (1979), he just might get drawn for RM sheep this year! (*He's had numerous archery bull tags since he drew that rifle bull tag.) Not sure what the total was after I only bought the sheep bonus, but it was going to be near $500 with it. (That total included fronted money for a couple of deer tags for my dad and buddy.) Ron
Outdoor Writer Report post Posted June 20, 2007 I hope you're right on the sheep, Mike. I think I have about 16 or 17 points now. Of course, I'd bet a lot of folks applied online before it went belly up, too. If I had applied when I had originally planned to, I would have been in fat city with buffalo, too. As it turned out, the day I decided to apply is when they shut it down. Ron, I thought of buying a sheep point, too, because I might be taking a real 9-5, 40-hr per week job that won't allow me the time to hunt. But this might be the right year for me to draw, as Mike said. -TONY
Huntn coues Report post Posted June 21, 2007 I have a family of 5 and did not look to see what the total was but I am sure my wife did. Anyhow since we have 3 bull tags and 1 cow tag with 3 of those being in December we all opted to just do bonus points for sheep. Hope this helps out some of you guy's that put in

tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 21, 2007 You know the song " Where has all the money gone? " or maybe it was flowers gone. Oh well, my wife said there was no way I could afford me putting in for sheep. We just came back from our 30th in Hawaii, which was planned before I knew I was having surgery that has kept me out of work the last 3 months and 2 more to go. Money, what money! I've only missed a couple years not putting in for sheep since 1974 and it just dawned on me that all those credit card apllications I get in the mail has been a sign from GOD that it's ok to use one for my sheep application. I was blessed with an archery tag and my wife drew a cow tag. LIFES GOOD!

tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 21, 2007 Sure glad to hear that Tom You know I would have gone with you on a sheep hunt Evan thow I have a Dec 1st Bull tag What do you mean "would have" gone with me on a sheep hunt? My wife said it would be my luck to draw a sheep tag after all we've been through this year and not having any vacation or sick time built up. I'll take that luck and hunt every day without pay. I'll sell it all and never look back!!!!!! Boy, I'm glad she doesn't read CWT.com.
