I'm new to the state/area so forgive me for asking if its a well-known topic...

There is some relatively cactus-free land with decent cover not terribly far from were I live, but it is part of the Gila River Indian Community. Can I obtain written permission from the Community to access this land to run dogs and or hunt birds? Can anyone give me a quick crash course in how that process works?

Thanks,

Brady

Almost all tribal lands sell their own hunting and fishing permits. That will be your written permission. They have entirely separate laws and enforcement. Find the agency that sells the hunting permits and ask lots of questions.

What Havasu Hunter said was right on. It's regulated by each reservation. In my experience, any res close to Phoenix won't let non members hunt. Some won't even let members hunt.

I have never heard of anyone hunting on the Gila Reservation. Your best bet is to hunt San Carlos Reservation.

No go on any hunting or fishing on Gila River Indian Community lands. They do not offer any permits either.
