Gotta pay for all that new tooling and research and development some how. This bullet is going to appeal to a very small niche of Shooters if you look at the big picture and will require a special twist barrel as well which limits availability to the casual Shooter as well.

If I thought they would always be available and decently priced I would build a 7LRM or 28 Nosler based on this. I have no faith that either will be the case though.

I think it will at the speeds you can sling them. Higher elevation will also help.

 

Those recomendations are given based off worst case scenarios. Slower speeds, cold weather, at sea level. If you do try them let us know how they work.

9 twist provides marginal stability with a stability factor of 1.3 at sea level at 75 degrees and 2950 fps and causes a 5% decrease in BC. Same conditions except 3000 ft elevation pushes the stability factor up to 1.5 and you can get all the BC out of the bullet. An 8 twist barrel would really be ideal for these bullets though as you wouldn't have to worry about altitude affecting your stability to less than ideal conditions.

^ There you go! My only worry with an 8 twist is the pressure building early before velocity is where you want it. Some of the guys shooting 8s also had issues with the 180 gr jackets in rifles with the boiler room to make them scream. Don't know for sure if that will carry over to the 195s. We shall see soon enough.

Fast twist doesn't increase pressure. Wives tale...

 

It increases rpms which can nuke jackets, but those rpms sure do show up in tissue trama with frangible bullets... Fun times.

I guess Litz put the pressure thing to rest for the most part. Although, he was using a standard .308 at pretty mellow (compared) velocities. I still wonder if the effects would be more pronounced with a longer, heavier, faster bullet. To what end, I don't know?

 

The jackets holding in a faster twist is the issue (or whether its actually an issue at all with the 195s). Can't wait to see some range reports!

I am willing to bet there has been some extensive testing done on these to ensure that they do fly and shoot well. That being said these should perform very similarly to the .30 cal 215 hybrid which has been an excellent performer on game especially bigger game like elk.

 

Edit: My bad, these are actually marketed as elite hunters which is the hunting versions of the Hybrids. Still there should be no problems with these bullets and faster twists since most hunters will not be shooting long strings of fire with them.
