MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted August 15, 2015 OK I picked up 50 cal tools and they are different thread size from any cleaning rods I have? What gives? I didn't see special rods with the brushes and jags?
QhunterAZ Report post Posted August 15, 2015 Check the ramrod most of them can unscrew to swap out the ends. So you can put the jig and the ball screw and such on the same rod.
AZkiller Report post Posted August 15, 2015 Yeah, sucks huh. There are adaptors and you can find mops and brushes with the 6-32's. I think they are supposed to fit the ramrods
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted August 15, 2015 Thought I was going crazy, 6 ramrods from gunslick, 3 wally specials with adapters, 2 shotgun kits, a machinist toolbox full of crap, and I couldn't get the brush, jag, or mop connected. Lol got it to work at the shop today so now just need to get the sabot cleaning stuff. All that's left is blue sabot hairs in the barrel.
pwrguy Report post Posted August 15, 2015 Yep, you have to get an adapter with 10/32 threads.
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Of course no one carries an adapter so they can sell you a new cleaning rod. I made my own and also an extended one so I could clean in the field with the ramrod and make it through the barrel.
pwrguy Report post Posted August 17, 2015 I use a dewey coated rod. No trouble getting an adapter from them, in fact I just used it today
