WTB: Remington 700 Long Action Rifle

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy a Remington 700 Long Action rifle. I am working on a long term project and need some donor equipment. Not looking for anything new, expensive etc..

Pawn shops are your friend. I got a beat up Rem 700 BDL in .30-06 that looked like the stock was used to beat stakes in the ground. Barrel was all scratched on the outside, but bore looked new, and bolt face too. Paid $250 for it, and tore it apart for the action only. Built my .25-06 Ackley off of it.

I would assume you're looking for an action. If that's the case check out Midwest Gun Works or Bud's guns. Both places have R700 actions in stock most of the time. Bud's is normally cheaper but Midwest had just an long action body (no bolt) for like $269. Hope that helps you out. If not shop for a sale on an SPS model 700 online

By the time you buy that and a bolt, bottom metal, box and follower your around $620. You can buy a new one and sell the junk. What would you be willing to spend on say a nice bdl long action with a trigger?

Buds has a complete 700 action (minus bottom metal) for $364-$401 for stainless. I suppose if you're lucky and find a beat up pawn shop special for $250 you can go that route.
