MathewQuigly Report post Posted August 13, 2015 I know these are talked a lot about but has anyone tried the Diamond back 8.5x50 I couldn't find anything on the forum about this one
GreyGhost85 Report post Posted August 13, 2015 the 8X42's are OK. not very tough though. definitely a few notches below vipers and waaay below razors
rossislider Report post Posted August 13, 2015 They are decent entry level binos. If you plan to use them extensively for hunting, especially on something that generally requires a lot of glassing (like coues hunting), I'd save up for the vipers.
PRDATR Report post Posted August 14, 2015 I bought my son a pair of 10x50's a couple of years ago. They looked clear inside of BP but in the field they leave a lot to be desired.
bgshooter Report post Posted August 14, 2015 I picked up a used pair of 10x42 Diamondbacks and I like them being the nicest pair (or most expensive) of glass I've ever owned. I've never looked through the higher end glasses in the field so I can't make a comparison there. I can't tell a difference between those and the 10x42 Prostaff 7s I bought on sale for $100 at cabelas. I do like how the Diamondbacks feel on my hands better than the Prostaff. But I used both on tripods so doesn't make a difference in that case.
MathewQuigly Report post Posted August 15, 2015 Just looking for a decent bino, not interested in the high end glass since murph use law is alwayse in effect.
QhunterAZ Report post Posted August 16, 2015 I don't mind murpy now that i use vortex. they got all there optics coverd.. So i go badlands packs and sleeping bags and tents. if only there clothes were unlimited waranty as well. Vortex for my optics. Busse and Winkler for my knives. Cutthroat for my broad heads for my longbows. unlimited warranty as well The rest is up to me but the above is what I tend to damage the most.
MathewQuigly Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Cabelas had them on sell $100 off but were sold out, I got the sale price on line though. The Vortex rep was there and said anything happens the bumps are covered under warranty Murphies law canceled
khmer6 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 i bought them for my wife a few months back. used a coupon and cash back so it was like 100 bucks OTD :-D They are ok, I like the eyecups better than most of the other binocs. Is it the greatest....no, is it worth 100 bucks, you bet!
khmer6 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 i see they are still in stock? http://www.cabelas.com/product/Bargain-Cave/Optics/Riflescopes-Red-Dot%7C/pc/105591780/c/105675480/sc/105678180/Vortex-Diamondback-85x50-Binocular/1935709.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Friflescopes-red-dot%2F_%2FN-1102696%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105678180
MathewQuigly Report post Posted August 17, 2015 They was out in the store had to order them on the net. They might have gotten some in who knows
khmer6 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 oh, i get it now. good luck, they are plenty of glass for the money. the 8.5 magnification is nice too, it doesn't introduce so much shake as the 10x or higher does.....but then again these hands aren't known to be steady when looking at a buck!
