Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted August 10, 2015 Anybody do their own thing at Lee's Ferry? How much boat does a person have to have to get upstream to fish? Saw all kinds of crafts on the water this past weekend and got to thinking I might get brave and take my 14' aluminum up there some day but then I got to thinking maybe I was being too brave? The boat we were in was a bigger boat with a big motor and it was great but I don't have a big boat or a big motor.......
CouesPursuit Report post Posted August 10, 2015 I would say a minimum is 12ft and 10hp but that is an absolute minimum and it will take you a while to get upstream. I've ran it several times in 14-16ft boats powered by 25-60hp motors.
Havasuhunter Report post Posted August 10, 2015 Never been there. Is the water deep enough to run a small bass boat up there?
brent Report post Posted August 10, 2015 Ive taken my bass tracker with a 40hp on it multiple times. You would be fine if your carful with it... I tend to not be very careful and therefore always bring an extra propeller and wrench. Don't forget to bring a decently heavy anchor. Since the water is always fluctuating, beaching the boat is a usually not a good idea. You have to anchor the boat in some calm shallow water if you are going to fish from shore. WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted August 10, 2015 did you go with Mike? for me its worth going with a bigger boat and motor, I wouldn't take a little boat up there, that is just me .
Non-Typical Solutions Report post Posted August 10, 2015 We did go with Mike Haws and had just a great time, first time there for me. I saw one small aluminum boat looked like a 12' setup. The setup he had seemed to work great but I really want to go give it a whirl again........
