Lee's Ferry

Recommended Posts

Anybody do their own thing at Lee's Ferry?

How much boat does a person have to have to get upstream to fish?

Saw all kinds of crafts on the water this past weekend and got to thinking I might get brave and take my 14' aluminum up there some day but then I got to thinking maybe I was being too brave?

The boat we were in was a bigger boat with a big motor and it was great but I don't have a big boat or a big motor.......

I would say a minimum is 12ft and 10hp but that is an absolute minimum and it will take you a while to get upstream. I've ran it several times in 14-16ft boats powered by 25-60hp motors.

Never been there. Is the water deep enough to run a small bass boat up there?

Ive taken my bass tracker with a 40hp on it multiple times. You would be fine if your carful with it... I tend to not be very careful and therefore always bring an extra propeller and wrench.

Don't forget to bring a decently heavy anchor. Since the water is always fluctuating, beaching the boat is a usually not a good idea. You have to anchor the boat in some calm shallow water if you are going to fish from shore.
