Kaibab Muley

Recommended Posts

on a side note, while I was up there this weekend there was a search and rescue going on for a 5 year boy. Evidently he wandered away from a family camp out on Thursday and has not been seen since. Seems a littel fishy to ne but I don't know the details. They have been searching in the burn. Who would camp in the burn with zero shade?

To think of a 5 year old lost up there is Heartbreaking.

Lots of Law enforcement, SAR and volunteers searching for this little boy all over the Kaibab. It was blazing hot up there during the day Friday and Saturday. Down in the low 40's at night. been missing 3 days.

I don't know about fishy! There have been a few little kids who wandered off from camps by Big Lake area in the past and they find them only 50-150 yards from camp. The forest cuts out sounds and hard to find. Unfortunately they found them dead from exposure from the elements. That's so sad. This summer I'm going to be up there and my 2 year old likes to take off every where. My eyes are going to be glued on them. Prayers for the family and hope for a miracle that they can find a five-year-old.

Some pretty wacked out comments on there.

I'm not sure what to believe. This article makes it sound like the child wandered away from the camp, another article I read said the Mom and child were about 100 - 200 yards from camp and lost track of him. Very very sad and I find it strange that nothing has turned up yet.

How frightened that little kid must have been. Wandering around alone and scared. Makes absolutely no sense.

DB you didn't end up behind this mess did you??

We left Marble Canyon Lodge about 9:00 a.m. and by the time we got to Snowflake had heard of reports of this mess.

Not that it would have been in our path but glad we were out of there before that hit.

Pretty sad story about that kid, it can happen fast whether it is in your back yard swimming pool or out in the boonies.

I remember quite a few years back that kid got lost in Payson, we had been camping at Roosevelt for Easter and that heavy snow storm came through.

They found that kid not far at all from where they were staying.

Prayers for sure for that family.

This hits home.. 33 yrs ago I wandered lost for 8 hrs in kaibab I was 10yrs old. I think I sang Jesus loves me 5, 000 times. Many tears any many screams finally alerted a hunter who had already harvested but was out for a hike. It was the general hunt and was unseasonably warm that day and I had stripped down to t-shirt so with snow coming that night Iim quite thankful for the angel that was sent.

My heart and prayers go out to the family
