lancetkenyon Report post Posted August 11, 2015 I shot my bull elk in 99' with a .300RUM pushing 180 Barnes XBTs. My elk went exactly 4'.....straight down. From standing to laying on the ground. Just saying. My daughter's elk last year was shot with a 175 SMK from the same gun. It went 0'. Bedded and just flopped over without a twitch. Elk are tough critters. They can take a lot to put down. Some others give it up like the school slut and just lay right down for you to start working on. Sucks you have had bad experiences with them. Mine differ by 180°. weasel1 Report post Posted September 7, 2015 I have shot just one cow elk with a 250 gr tipped triple shock in a 9.3x62. About 85 yards. The cow stumbled in a circle and was down before I could take a second shot. My friends and I have shot several Cali pigs of various sizes with them and have never had a problem we could blame on the bullet. I like them.
