gnoto Report post Posted August 24, 2004 I figured the over population would keep me away from the Cerro's and i would stick to Stevens/GunPoint. Its a little tougher to get up there. But not for the Ghosts and me!
takeonlythebigones Report post Posted August 26, 2004 Hey Guys, I'm new to this forum but not to unit 36a . Been hunting it for about 5 seasons in a row now. Usually go in at McGee Ranch and hunt all over that area but no further than 5 miles past the gate. Took one small buck my first season in there and missed a really nice one the next year. Opening day will be very crowded , access is extremely easy ,unlimited and the weekend warrior's that like to drive around on their quads usually run the roads hard and fast. My best advice would be get high as you can before daylight and keep your eyes open for the big ones running away from the crowd. They alway's run to the top of the hill's and hide out till season's over. Lot's of does ,fawn's and small buck's in the area close to the ranch. But opening morning there are always a few nice buck's in there too.
