Tomorrow's Dinner| Crawfish Gumbo with Gator Andouille

Recommended Posts

4th of July is the worst time to be in the White Mountains. Roughly the 50 or 60 thousand people influx makes driving almost impossible and the rudeness level goes through the roof. I was going stir crazy in my house and had to go outside, but where. If I went to standard spots they would most likely overrun, so I went opposite and dropped to the Globe side of the canyon for some crawfish. My first time targeting those bugs and I learned a couple things. Like pull up your trap evenly or they fall out and they eat alot. Now to find fresh okra in show low.

This is the weekend of the year I do not leave my house or I go to vegas. The locals think its some sort of status symbol to hog as much room as possible at the parade and the flatlanders are in vacation mode and want to be treated as such. All of them are in the way. Here is some advice you do not need 1/2 a city block to see a fire truck drive by. Congrats you have a long weekend. I know its expensive I pay that price all year. Your not in the valley or Tucson and I dont care.

My first year in a long time not being up. With my grandfather passing last year, it would have been difficult. We're spreading his ashes up there on his birthday.

My condolences, I understand what you are going through, my dad passed in February and I know deer hunting will not be the same without him.

Lol. I always thought it would be hilarious to go during the night before the parade and mix up everyone's chairs and canopies they have roped off along the highway. Would be utter caos the following morning.

That's a mess of crawfish, you did good. If you make the holes a little smaller you may not loose as many when you pull the trap up.

I have had that thought. I wanted to get a ten man team and move every chair back 50 yards exactly how they had it along the street. I was even going to break up the areas into sections to maximize the areas covered.

Prdator - Thanks for the advice I am going to flatten the holes out right now. The crawdads in this pond were literally jumping out of the water.

Last yr over here in Eagar a bunch of kids collected all the chairs from up an down main st and piled them all in the church parking lot the night before the parade lol it was awesome. My sister owns a house on main and had someone flag off the whole area in front of her house 2 an a half weeks before the parade in yellow caution tape. Looked like a crime scene. Needless to say it didn't last.

My step dad was partners in a business importing Cajun foods to Las Vegas. Whenever I go over I raid his freezer. He also had an assortment of seafood (bluefin, albacore, and salmon) that went missing last time I was there.
