Barnes LRX bullets?

Recommended Posts

I did a little reading about these bullets when I was researching for my Creedmoor, but they were hard to find. I was at Cabelas this morning and saw a box and grabbed it. Has anybody tried these on any animals? David

Terrible BC. Flies decent. Hammers on game.

I used Barnes TTSX on a muley at 488 yards out of my .25-06 Ackley, complete pass through quartering on and the deer never took a single step.

I had a good load worked up for my .300RUM in a 175 LRX but never used them on game. Flew pretty darn good though. Sub MOA.

I bet the 6.5mm 127 LRX would be great on game, but make sure to keep them above the minimum 1600fps. So maybe out to 700 yards or so. Kinetic energy will be good out to 600 or so to retain 1000ft/lbs. depending on your velocity.

Never shot the LRX's but the TTSX's are my "go to" bullet for hunting. Barnes makes good stuff.

the factory is in Utah off I15, along about mm 231(ish) if I remember right. I've stopped in there a couple times over the years, could buy all I wanted

if you know someone heading to Salt Lake have them buy some

A 500 yard group shot this morning at Phoenix Rod and Gun Club with my 7.5 pound 6.5-06. I'd say they fly fine. Plan to be testing them on elk and Coues shortly...

Meh. Looks like they fly about 1/2 MOA high......

Great shooting, good luck on your hunts this year.

Thanks, they were a little high, but it was almost 100 out so I'm thinking that was an air density thing.

Update... the little 6.5 dropped a big bull in its tracks Monday morning. Very impressed with the performance!
