Bitter/Sweet Fathers day

Recommended Posts

You're a good dad. Holidays have a new meaning after losing a loved one. Crystal Rose has a magnificently breathtaking beautiful final resting place.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

Murph. I'm kinda an old softee and didn't want to open your post since I presumed it was about your own dad and my relationship with my brothers and sisters with our dad really wasn't really very nurturing as he was a loner and, well a heavy drinker.

Being the oldest of five kids by the time I was about twelve I was pretty much the protector and some what of a father figure.

Flash forward about 25 years, I met a wonderful woman and soon had a couple of kids in my late thirties about a year and a half apart. My daughter came first followed buy my son. We did everything together from the time they could walk. Camped, fished and hunted.

In her senior year of high school, she fell for a kid whose parents were here illegally. Nice people, old school. They started dating and a couple of years later his parents has a b'day party for him at theis house and let the kids, all underage drink unsupervised. His mothers mindset was they will probably go somewhere and drink anyway so let them drink here.

Well three months before she was going to turn 19 my child went into cardiac arrest from too much booze. I read all the police reports, filled out by the parents, boyfriend and her friends. Some of whom I had coached through Little League.

Eight years later it still blows my mind. Tomorrow is her birthday and a day never passes that I don't think about her.

Unbenownst to me my ex took her ashes to the Pacific and scattered them last year. Probably best I didn't go.

Terribly sad story, Prdatr. Just goes to show you never know what sadness and sorrow others may be experiencing.

I can honestly say I know how you feel. Losing a child can bring so many mixed feelings. Denial, sadness, anger, depression. All that going on makes for a long road to walk. It however does get better with time. My heart goes out to you and anyone else who has lost a child. That's why we have to tell our kids and family everyday how much they mean to us and live everyday like it's your last. You never know what will happen.

Prayers sent to all, for comfort in the loss of a child, and thanksgiving to those who get to spend more time with cherished loved ones. We will meet them again someday. Rest assured they will be waiting for us at Heaven's Gates with open arms and great stories and memories.
