trail Cameras

Recommended Posts

This season I want to get a deer. the past 5 years i have yet to get anything but have learned alot, and every year i have gotten closer and closer. Last season i took a shot... but missed <_< . So ya i was wondering how long trail cameras should be sitting there until i go and get it again. a couple of days? weeks? months?

I think that really depends on many factors

If it is a new location then you may want to check it in a week so it could be moved or left there depending on the pictures you get.

If it is a good spot that you think you want to hunt than leave it there for 3 to 4 weeks

As the hunt gets close you may want to check it once a week to be sure the animals are still using the area.

I have one out now that I will probably not move untill after the January archery hunt, Which is why I am bidding on more cameras on Ebay right now.

I am checking this cam about every 3 to 4 weeks

Hope this helps

Mike

If you are going to leave your camera out for long periods of time make sure you select the setting that will give you the most allowable pictures (lowest resolution) and set the time between pictures to be fairly long, otherwise your battery could die before you get back up there and it would be sitting there dead for a week or two.

In saying that, a rechargable battery and solar panel can come in very handy if you can't check your camera but every month or so...

If it was an area I knew there were deer in and the camera was getting action, I'd leave the camera there until you harvest your deer (as long as it is well hidden and won't get stolen).
