AZ_SAWBUCK Report post Posted May 30, 2015 I was thinking of hiking down into the canyon below the dam to fish for little bookies. I hiked down and fished it about 10 years back and the fishing was ok, and the solitude was unreal. I didn't catch a lot of fish, but the ones I did fought like crazy on the ultra light rod I was using. They were super spooky and skittish fish...have to really sneak up on the pools. Just wondering if anyone has been down in there? Wondering how the water level is in the creek. Any updates would be appreciated! Thanks JS
AZ_SAWBUCK Report post Posted June 2, 2015 Well I guess no one has been down there...... Either the fishing sucks or the solitude is how I remember it! I'll let you know how the hike goes😀
Norteno Report post Posted June 2, 2015 I look forward to hearing what you find. If we don't hear back we can assume you hit a hotspot and want to keep it to yourself.
Viper Report post Posted June 2, 2015 I did a day trip last year around this time. We hiked in from the west side, about 1/3 way back from the lake...I'm guessing. We were the only ones there the whole day. Fished about a mile upstream and back. Caught a few nice rainbows. The hike out was killer. Ran across 4 black-tail rattlers within that span. Next time, I will wear snake guards.
MULEPACKHUNTER Report post Posted June 2, 2015 Did that spot many years ago and had a blast. My buddy did it last year and didn't catch any but had fun. Very sure you will be glad you went.
