IA Born Report post Posted May 20, 2015 Back in February, we purchased my buddy's quad from him. Its a 2008 Kawasaki Brute Force 650. While I've been known to ride quads for work and such in other states, this is my first time actually owning one. Long story short, he bought it brand new in Colorado, then moved to Utah (both of which have[had] COMPLETELY different laws than AZ) and just today, I was able to get it titled and registered to be street legal in Arizona. To actually be able to drive it now on "streets or highways", etc., I have to get the mirror(s) and horn, which I don't see as a big deal, and the license plate light. The license plate light is my bigger question. How has everyone else dealt with the license plate light requirement? I've done a quick search for license plate brackets and those seem easy and cheap, but I'm not seeing an easy solution to the license plate light issue, unless I'm missing something, which is entirely possible after a long day today. I'm hoping someone hear has a clearer brain than mine right now.
More D Report post Posted May 20, 2015 We just got a new Ranger and the license plate light was part of the deal so that I can make it semi-street legal. It is an aftermarket kit and I think I was only $20-30. I am sure that it could be found on ebay for less. I would check the Kawasaki forums or YouTube for detailed instructions for installation. I did just that for a backup light on my 2008 Ranger and it worked out perfectly. More D
Snapshot Report post Posted May 20, 2015 I bought a bolt on light from the Auto parts store, and ran a wire to the headlamp lead wire. When the headlights were turned on the License plate light would come on.I don't think I paid more than $10..
rossislider Report post Posted May 20, 2015 We bought a cheap bracket/light combo kit on ebay. Not fancy but does the job.
IA Born Report post Posted May 21, 2015 Thanks guys! I can't search ebay at work, but will look tonight. Most places (limited search) had the bracket and light separately.

After the couple of weeks I've had, I'd love to tell "The Man" what he can do with some of his laws, but at the end of the day, I'm still a Federal agent. Not following the latest is not an option. I get in MUCH more trouble than the average person on those things!

muledeerarea33? Report post Posted May 21, 2015 Just scotch lock or splice(splice is better) in to your tail light. Mount a bracket and a bulb socket holder for a trailer light. Done. If you can, figure the amperage of the extra bulb and bump your fuse up. If it's 10a put a 15a in, or whatever it is in your case. Loom the wire and make it look nice. PRDATR Report post Posted May 21, 2015 If you get the LED one the current draw is going to be minimal. If you use a regular bulb type for every 12 watts will be one amp.
