Snake gaiters

Recommended Posts

I have been running into snakes constently hiking. Like most I have had some very close calls over the years. I have snake gaiters that I use Aug. archery hunting and scouting. They are whitewater brand. They are just very hot and uncomfortable. When trail hiking in Saguaro monument east I am in shorts and no gaiters. I defiantly don't want a snake bite to mess up my Sep. bull hunt or worse. Does anybody use gaiters that are half way comfortable that they wear with shorts? Thanks

Snake gaiters with shorts....now that is a fashion statement! I too wear Whitewater gaiters, but have never tried them on pantless.

When I was hunting August archery in the desert I wore shorts and had some brown breathable athletic socks that went to my knee, gaiters on over them. Still sucked and they were still a little sweaty, but it helped.

Turtle Skin gaiters are the lightest and best fit I've found so far. They are quite pricey but well worth it imo.

The last thing I am concerned about when outdoors is a fashion statement. I looked, I don't have a picture of myself with the snake gaiters but look at this debacle of an outfit.

Casino Arizona giveaway T shirt from Grandpa, hand me down jean shorts from Andre the giant - have no idea how I got them, dress socks from work the day before, and skater shoes from my high school days. Wife don't care, dog don't care, critters don't care. Although I do have my devils hat on.

Some things change, realized a couple weeks ago I can no longer hear rattlesnakes. Maybe snake gaitors are in my future.

However, will never join the 'pants optional' crowd. At least not until I'm warehoused.

Edge join the crowd - not hearing rattlers is no joking matter - I made the step - hearing aids -

surprised how noisy things are now - lol

never worn snake gators - never will - 50 some yrs hunting Az and have luckily never had a tooooo close encounter - a lot of close ones - just makes you get a better feel/ respect of nature

I've slowed down and take a second to actually look where I'm going- I understand most places we walk one can not see the ground, with a snakes natural camo - we tend to not see them either

just remember to be careful when in places snakes like to hide out - under trees/ rocks in areas around water - rarely see them to be honest - doesn't mean they are not there - chances of just stepping on one in the open is slim .

Might be a good idea as much as you run into them evil beasts!

Thanks, guys

Was riding with friends near Payson couple weeks ago and twice my horse shied. I asked my gf what's the problem, she told me there were rattlers buzzing away. From dumb pony to good pony!
