.22 LR

Recommended Posts

I am in Helena, MT this week and decided to look around for some 22 lr since that has become a favorite pastime for me. Went to 3 stores, all of them had it in stock. Prices were 7.99 for a box of 50 Remington Golden Bullett; 17.99 for 325 federal 40 gr match grade, $35 500 rington thunderbolt, $12 for 100 Norma copper tipped. I bought a box of federal match grade. No one was waiting at the door for a delivery, there was plenty in stock but as you can see the selection was pretty limited. My uncle said this is the least selection he has seen all year. Since gofer and rock chuck season just kicked off, that makes sense.

This experience makes me think the problem has more to do with greedy AZ ammo hoarders than it does with conspiracies or anything else. For example I have a friend with over 1,000 rds in his safe and he doesn't even own a .22, just bought it cause he found it. What an idiotic mentality, that I feel explains the shortage perfectly.

+1----Same ol retired idiots every week at Sportsmans in Mesa waiting in line to grab any ammo that comes in whether they need it or not. Same ones that love to speak their mind (even though no one wants to hear it)when I am looking at a gun. Goes somethin like this, " O you dont want a glock son, those guns are just junk". I just smile and say "sure". The other one goes something like this "Oh that rifle is the most accurate rifle ever made...I can shoot factory ammo all in the same hole at a hundert yards with that rifle any day of the week." Again I just smile and say "wow thats awesome".

It is becoming more available but it is still very limited.

I have picked up abut 1500 rounds over the last few months for about $30 a brick.

The hoarders are just making life harder.

Apparently all I needed to do was mention 22 ammo in front of my uncles. One gave me 100 rds of mini mag last night, the other one handed me an unopened brick of federal copper tipped hollow points today. I am coming home with more ammunition than I have seen on any store shelves in years.

Same old retarded idiots at the Tucson store also. They used to have a drawing on Sat. AM but now they just randomly put some on the shelf.

I don't think anyone buys .22 lr in moderation anymore. I don't know a lot on the subject but Sandy hook and politics really changed a lot. Do you guy think with all the hoarding that there should be some kind of limit? I haven't bought any recently, or even used the ammo i do have, just due to the fact that I don't want to fight to buy just one brick.

Sounds to me like some you all should start getting to know some of those old retard retired hoarders Lord knows they don't know a thing about what they are doing, probably there just there to piss everybody off cause they have money to spend and want to buy bullets.....and now we are suggesting a limit to what they can buy????

On one hand we want our freedoms and on the other we want to limit????

It is what it is and if you want them you gotta get in line.........

I agree that these days, moderation is in short supply when it comes to buying .22LR rounds (no pun intended.....). When folks find them, they tend to buy all they can. Some retailers have been limiting the numbers folks can purchase. I think the the retailer wants to do that, it is their prerogrative. Their business is their business to run. NO moderation/limits by the government should be done though, IMO.

BTW, the Sandy Hook tragedy had nothing to do with this at all. Demand and prices started to rise way before that.
