Fishing rule changes?

Recommended Posts

For as long as I can remember kids under the age of 10 had to fish with a license adult and that adult could only have 2 unlicensed kids fish under him/her at any given time. The fish limit for these kids were also half the normal limit. Well from what I just read in the regs it appears the rules have changed. I can't seem to find the old 2 unlicensed kids per licensed adult rule and from what I read the fish limit for kids under 10 is no longer a half limit. Can anyone confirm this or am I reading it wrong?

No sir you are NOT wrong, a kids license is only five dollars for age ten to seventeen for fishing and small game only, big game needs a regular license now.

I stand corrected, I was told by an official that the youth license was not valid for big game, I just read the regs again and am lead to believe it DOES cover big game as long as a tag is in hand.

When I bought my 17 year old his license for Christmas last December I was at Western Drug in Round Valley. I wanted a hunt and fish combo.

I was buying a few other items but when she gave me the total, I said, "No ma'm you must have forgotten the hunt and fish combo cause that total is way to low."

She replied, "No sir, it is right here, $5.00."

I kept asking her over and over, are you sure about this, and she assured me it was correct.

So then in January I had an errand to run at the G&F office so I asked them about the $5.00 youth hunt and fish and they confirmed that was correct.

The hunt permit is still the same......but the license is 5 bucks.......great deal there for kids and parents......

Thanks for the info guys! You are correct Coues assassin I'm not looking to buy a youth license. I'm taking 4 kids all under 10 fishing this weekend and just wanted to make sure we weren't breaking the rules.

Where are the G&F HATERS ON THIS THREAD? How dare them charge $5 for kids! HaHa, that is a great deal. I think that's a lot better than most states. Really can't beat that.
