I want to purchase one of them for hunting, but I have head several people mention that they have had problems with limbs cracking on the Allegiance. Is this true? In your guy’s opinion, what would be the best choice for shooting anywhere from 20 yards to 100 yards? I also want to be around 285-300 fps. Please feel free to express your opinions. bowhuntinmaniac Report post Posted May 6, 2007 My friend and I have the Allegiances......have had no limb problems. He is shooting light carbons at 64# and getting 314 fps. I shoot heavy carbons and get 278 fps at 64 lbs, They are great bows..........cant tell you anything about the tribute tho. It’s nice just to have those extra pins on your bow and you can be very accurate when you practice. I have an 80 yard pin on my bow right now that I use for hunting and have groups of three arrows the size of a paper plate at that range. I know that some people think it not ethical to shoot that far, but I really think it depends on the bow and how much you have practiced. I don't think my bow can sling one that far. Just kidding, my hats off to you and everyone else that can shoot like that. My personal comfort zone is 30 yrds and less but that's because my lack of practice year round. Keep up the practice and good luck in all your future hunts. It will take alot of practice to be efficient out to 100 yards but bowtech makes a great bow to do it. I know that the allegience will be my next bow. What is your draw length? jnobleinaz Report post Posted May 7, 2007 My brother has the Allegiance and I have the Tribute I got them off ebay and didnt care which one was what. They both are deadly at long yardage. Huge difference from my older 99 pse carrera. I think any of the new bows are leaps and bounds over old tec. Cant go wrong either way. crazy4COUES Report post Posted May 7, 2007 IMO the only thing that would be a determining factor is what is your drawlength? If it is 29" or greater go with the tribute, 28" or less go with the allegiance. The reasoning is simple if you want to shoot around 300 FPS you will need the extra inch or two for the tribute to achieve 300, were as the allegiance will do it at 27." I personally have the allegiance @ 70# 28" draw and shoot 307 FPS w/5 grains per pound. Hope this helps. As far as the limb issues, I have never seen any EVER! Only "heard" folks talk about it. I have head a lot of stories about the limbs cracking on the allegiance, but haven’t head anything bad about the tribute an its limbs. I own the tribute and would not trade it for the world. It boosted my confidence through the roof. If you are shooting paper plates at 80 now you will be shooting soft balls with this. This may sound braggadocios but I go three for three with a pop can at 75 but like younghunter said practice practice practice. I can not say enough good things about this bow. Hunterdan Report post Posted May 8, 2007 I bought the allegiance in 2005. I had shot a lot and was ready for my Bull hunt when a week before the hunt one of my limbs cracked. I freaked out. Bowtech expressed new limbs to the local shop and I had my bow back within the week. I was able to go on the hunt and take a nice Bull. Although I was dissapointed that the limb cracked I was very satisfied with Bowtechs fast response in taking care of my bow and understanding the importance of having a Arizona Bull tag.
