stanley Report post Posted May 1, 2007 I'm heading-up this weekend for some turkey hunting. Hoping to get my son a shot at one! I was assuming there would be no snow up high this year, especially this late, but just wanted to double check. Has anyone been up there lately? Any snow way up high, or is it as dry as I'm assuming it to be??? S.

Huntn coues Report post Posted May 1, 2007 I have not been up there so I'm not sure but I know someone who was through there a couple of weeks ago and there was snow. I had that tag 3-4 yrs ago and there was quite a bit of snow still up there. Good luck!

stanley Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Thanks much guys!!! "birds everywhere" primetime???? Dang-it man, now how in the heck am I supposed to concentrate on work tomorrow!!!! Can't wait! This is one of the things I love about this sight. No malice, no BS, no "chips on shoulders" (for the most part.... ), just good helpful & friendly folks! Good stuff guys. I'll share a story when I get back. Hopefully including a pic of a dead gobbler, but knowing that country I suppose I'll get some spectacular photos either way.... Thanks again, S. ichiban43 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 Stanley and all of the rest of you--good luck and save me a bird (actually tying one up for me would be nice-HA!) Can't head up until the 16th. BOB
stanley Report post Posted May 8, 2007 Well we're back. No turkeys killed, but lots of good times. Weather was a challenge, but the fresh snow just added to the adventure... I'll try to post a story and pics sometime soon. ichiban43, we definitely saved you a bird! There were lots up there, but they were VERY silent for the most part during our hunt. Likely the weather was impacting them (low pressure, wind, snow, etc..). Hopefully they'll be a little noisier for your hunt next week! I'm actually going to try to maybe get away for another couple of quick days prior to the season ending if possible. Good luck! S.

Stanley-- Thanx for the encouragement--hope you make it back up there again. I ran into the "silence" last year. I'll get there in the PM on the 17th and stay until the season closing. Wifey is coming and she will set up her sewing room in the motorhome. We will be staying at the Kaibab Kamper Village. Maybe see ya there. Good luck--BOB
