If you're ever on the east side, Asian Cafe Express on Dobson and Main in Mesa. It's tucked away in a strip mall. Their menu is three inches thick. I kid you not. Not a fancy place. Has a small dining room that will be packed during busy times, but well worth it!

Best. Food. Ever.

+1

This place isn't much to look at. In fact, it looks like every other crappy strip mall Asian place you've tried. But it tastes nothing like all the the other crappy places. This place is outstanding! They are written up in The New Times "Best Of" every year. Pretty much everything on the menu is under $8. They have a big selection of rice bowl entrees for $4. As Forlorn Hope mentioned they have a huge menu. About a third of the menu is all of the American not really traditional Asian food. The rest is a lot of very traditional Asian things you have never heard of. If you go, you will also notice that the place is very popular with the Asian community, which I think says a lot.

Check it out!

Also, I'm partial to the Kung Pao Chicken and the Mongolian Beef. I want to try some of the authentic stuff, but the Americanized stuff is so good, I have a hard time trying anything else.

Yup, forgot to mention that. Hong Kong, Northern, Szechuan style foods most of us have never heard of.

Seriously??? The question was obviously rhetorical (though not so obvious to you, I see....). How about finding another thread to hijack, please. Actually, never mind. How about not hijacking threads at all.

I find your tag line ironic.

Golden Gate > NE corner 101 & Baseline in west Mesa. Great food, nicely decorated inside, quiet ambience > nice for date night ;-)...

Thai, Yuphas Thai Kitchen on McClintock and Elliot, couple places away from dollar theatre, food is good and the place appears to be clean. Thai House on Power and Southern. Food is pretty good not a place for a first time date unless you don't want a second. Korean-Hodori on Dobson and Southern. Food is good and place is clean. Don't do Chinese or to much Japanese food.

I've been wanting to try Slanted Rice. It's owned by a friends brother and I hear really good things about it. The misses doesn't care for Chinese so we generally don't go that route.
