stanley Report post Posted April 19, 2015 To answer the original question though, a couple of places come to mind for me. My favorite Chinese place is Gourmet House of Hong Kong (around 14th Street and McDowell). For Thai food, I like Wild Thaiger on Central, South of Thomas. I've also heard good things about Thai Lotus (North 19th Ave), but have not tried it myself. I like these kind of threads because of there really isn't 'the best' place to eat food, just everyone's opinion of the best places...... Great way to discover new joints! Chris Report post Posted April 19, 2015 For AZkiller....go to Golden Coin off of 32nd street, it's an affordable buffet of all of 6 or 7 items. Get some of each. This will have fixed your dislike for Chinese food. They even have the best fried chicken! Caution that Chicken is hot! (temp) But, you will gain weight. lancetkenyon Report post Posted April 19, 2015 I really like Big Heng's in Peoria. On 75th Ave & Peoria, NW corner. Not a high end place, but the staff is super friendly (a family run place), and food is great. Cheap too. We get take out quite a bit, and they always throw in some appetizers for free. For a little nicer place, we used to go to Golden Phoenix, on Camelback I think? Pretty good food there too. NW valley (I-17 & 101), a new place opened up a couple years ago called George & Sons. Pretty good and family run.
Chef Report post Posted April 19, 2015 Malee's on main (downtown Scottsdale) has very good Tom Ka Gai. It's always been one of my go to Thai places. Also have heard great things about Royal Jasmine, in Goodyear.

Big Heng was the first restaurant that came to mind when I saw the subject. I live like 5 min from them and we eat there when we can't think of what to eat at a given night. I'd like to add that they're fast in getting out the food regardless of how busy they are. For Thai I like to go to Touch of Thai on Bell Ave west of I17.
Hoss50 Report post Posted April 19, 2015 Big Heng for more traditional Chinese, and Zang's Asian Bistro in downtown Glendale for higher end stuff. I lived 2 miles from Big Heng for years and drove by it all the time. It doesn't look like anything special but the food is dang good. Zang's just reopened in downtown Glendale and is even better then it was before. I live a mile from Big Heng and if we get Chinese, that is about the only place I will go for good quick Chinese.

AZ8 Report post Posted April 19, 2015 If you're ever on the east side, Asian Cafe Express on Dobson and Main in Mesa. It's tucked away in a strip mall. Their menu is three inches thick. I kid you not. Not a fancy place. Has a small dining room that will be packed during busy times, but well worth it! Best. Food. Ever.
