fdh88 Report post Posted April 16, 2015 Not sure if anyone has seen the photo that recently came out of a woman that harvested a giraffe in Africa. She's being bashed all over the Internet just because this is an exotic animal, She had a story about her hunt and how the meat was given to a village but she is being scrutinized and being called disgusting and way worse names not worth of mentioning. I just wanted to rant on here since we are all like minded people. I don't think you can ever change the mind of a hunter or someone who is anti-hunting. Clearly the giraffe wasn't poached but that's how she's being labeled. Perhaps those people don't stop to think of the animals that die for their consumption whether it be hunted or farm raised. Just because the animal is exotic, everyone is suddenly offended by hunting. But what I know. I suppose some people find more honor in getting their meat in a drive thru without ever knowing or caring about what it takes to harvest animal for your family on your own, or to be that farmer who raises those animals, only to be degraded by ungrateful people. It's one thing to post up a picture of a deer but shooting one of Disneys cuddly creatures is definitely going to draw a negative response from 80% of the people out there. That's just the way it is and she should have thought about the possibility of that when she posted it. These days you can't do anything without having the media and bloggers attacking it. Everyone is easily offended and we are all supposed to be sensitive. Nothing illegal happened. I'm just bothered by this because certain groups always express wanting tolerance and understanding but it seems like hunters get the short end of the stick. People post pictures, other people get offended and some comment on it. Right, wrong, or indifferent, that's just the way it is. No big deal, IMO..... She'll weather this just like Melissa Bachman and Kendall Jones did. No big deal... Edit: Glad you can rant safely within the CWT community. Having taken a giraffe, I can tell you many people are shocked and dismayed that anyone would do such a thing. Africans have no issue with it, neither do I.
